We can learn and acquire habits for healthy living by observing Nature and things around us. We just need to take out time to watch and experience. Have you ever observed birds and watched them eat? I see birds like sparrows, crows, and pigeons coming to pick up food that I keep out of my home window. It is so interesting to watch them eat.
Here are a few things that I have learned from observing the birds around
Habits for Healthy Living
Healthy Habit #1
No matter how much food you put out. They will take a few bites and then fly away. One doesn’t see them overeating, We can learn not to overeat or stuff ourselves. Eating more than you need, emotional eating, and overeating are some of the main reasons for weight gain. If you are looking at losing weight then Do Not Overeat.
Healthy Habit #2
They make use of their bodies fully. They keep working and are always moving about. You would hardly see them sitting in one place for very long. We too should increase physical movements in our lifestyle.
Healthy Habit #3
We crave various kinds of foods – burgers, pizzas, Thai, Chinese, etc…The birds eat the same kind of diet all the time. I am not saying that we should not eat different varieties of food but in each category let us choose the options which are more nutritious and beneficial for us. Choose to have more vegetables in any kind of food you opt for.
Healthy Habit #4
Once the sun goes down they return to their nests. Have you seen them eating anything after dark? At night our digestive system is not at its optimum level….so either we should not eat late at night or eat light. We too can make our lifestyle in sync with the body clock for better health.
Healthy Habit #5
They always see them chirping and in a good mood….have you seen a bird that is stressed, or sulking? Let’s choose to bring more positivity into our lives.
